Once clicked, it will display the detailed message template contents and settings.

When a WhatsApp message template has been approved and is ready for testing, the following fields and components are displayed:

  1. Template Name: The unique name assigned to the message template, used for identifying it in the system. (Not editable)

  2. Sender: Specifies the phone number or WhatsApp Business Account that will send the test message. Users can select the appropriate sender from available accounts. (Editable)

  3. Language: If the message template was set up in multiple languages, the user selects a language from the Language dropdown menu to send the message in their preferred language, as defined during message template setup. (Editable).

  4. Recipient Number: The test number to which the message will be sent, entered in international format by choosing the country code and the recipient number (e.g., +1 234 567 8900). (Editable)

  5. Header, Body, Footer:\

    • Header: Upload the required media file (image, video, document) or text header in the message template. (Editable for multimedia content, such as images, videos, or documents)

      📘

      NOTE

When preparing to test or send an approved WhatsApp message template with a header that includes a multimedia file, the user must upload a media file (image, video, or document) as part of the process. Initially, in the Message Templates section displays the original media file configured when the message template was created, allowing the user to review what was initially set.

For testing or actual message sending, META requests to re-upload the media file. This upload can be either the original file or a different file, depending on the user’s preference for the specific test or message. This ensures that the correct media file accompanies each message sent, whether it’s a test message or a live message.

It is recommended that users read these policies to ensure that all content used in WhatsApp message templates adheres to platform guidelines. Understanding these rules can help avoid rejections and ensure that images, videos, and other media align with WhatsApp’s standards for acceptable, respectful, and compliant content.

    • Personalized fields & Body :

      1. Personalized fields: Fields for entering specific values to replace placeholders within the message, allowing users to simulate real data in the test. Here enter the value of each variable (personalized field) configured. (Editable only for inputting personalizedvalues for placeholders)
      2. Body: The main message content, displaying variables (placeholders) for dynamic data. (Not Editable)
    • Footer: A brief, optional closing line, often for branding or contact details. (Not editable)

  6. Buttons: Displays the button configuration set during message template creation. (Not Editable)

Click on the Send icon to send the message template to the recipient.

WARNING

It is important to note that if you modify (edit) any WhatsApp message template with Pending or Approved status, the message template will have to go through the approval process again.

If you modify (edit) a message template that is configured between one or more languages, you won't not able to remove any language. For example, the message template named "Test01" is configured in two languages: English and Spanish. If you want to remove (deselect) either language, you will not be able to do so.

All WhatsApp message templates are editable, regardless of their current status. There are specific conditions depending on the status of the message template: rejected message templates may be edited multiple times until approval is obtained, while approved message templates can only be modified once within a 24-hour period.

If the WhatsApp message template has been rejected (not approved), click on the Edit icon.

Once you've clicked, select the Exclamation icon. A dialog will be displayed describing why the message template was rejected.

To know some possible reasons why the WhatsApp message template was rejected, go to the Notes and Policy section.

🚧

IMPORTANT

If the following message is displayed:

“Meta access has been revoked for this WhatsApp account. Template actions are temporarily unavailable. Please restore access or contact support.”

It means that the platform no longer has permission to access your WhatsApp Business Account in Meta.

In this scenario, actions related to message templates — including Details, Edit, Delete, and Analytics & Reporting — will be temporarily unavailable.

As a result, the platform cannot retrieve or manage message template data from Meta, preventing any interaction with existing message templates.

This situation occurs when access to your WhatsApp account has been removed or modified in your Meta Business Manager.

To resolve this issue, please contact your Account Manager to restore access to your WhatsApp Business account.
