Adding Variables (placeholders)
You add personalized fields (variables/placeholders) to the following message template elements when creating a WhatsApp message template:
- Header — The header accepts 1 variable.
- Body — The Body accepts any number of variables.
- Buttons (Dynamic URL) — The Dynamic URL Suffix accepts 1 variable.
You add variables to any section using the following steps:
-
Select the Add variable button. A pop-up dialog appears with two options:

- Select placeholder from subscribers — Selecting this option shows all variables available in the subscription list.

- Add new placeholder — Selecting this option creates a new variable.

-
After you click Save, the variable appears enclosed in double curly brackets — e.g., {{name}} — in the message.

Adding Variable to the Body section
-
After you add variables to the desired sections, you select the Add Sample button at the top of each Language tab to provide content examples. The Add Sample button appears after you add at least one variable.

-
A list appears showing each section and its configured variables. You enter the specific content example for each variable in each section. Then you click Save.

NOTEIf you need to add any specific content example, a Warning icon will be displayed. Therefore you will not be able to create the WhatsApp message template.
