Create & Send WhatsApp Template

This video walks through the full lifecycle of WhatsApp templates in the Digital Engagement Platform — from creating them to sending a Marketing template through a campaign. Since every business-initiated conversation on WhatsApp must start with an approved template, the walkthrough focuses on how to build templates correctly and how Meta’s rules shape what you can and can’t customize.

The tutorial begins in the Templates section, where you’ll create three different WhatsApp template types: Authentication, Utility, and Marketing. Each template serves a different purpose, and the video highlights how Meta applies stricter rules to certain categories, such as one-time passcode messages. You’ll see how to choose the template type, define a name, select the languages you want to support, and customize the content where the platform allows it. As the templates are built, the preview shows exactly how they’ll appear inside a WhatsApp chat.

The video goes deeper into the structure of each template type. For Authentication templates, you’ll learn why the message body and action button can’t be edited, how placeholders work for verification codes, and where Meta allows optional security or expiration lines. For Marketing and Utility templates, you’ll see a more flexible editor — with optional headers, footers, media, personalization variables, and interactive buttons designed to drive engagement. After saving each one, you’ll see how template cards display approval status, languages, category, and Meta’s quality rating.
